Today has been a good day!  He has been in good spirits today and we even had a moment when the nurse was in the room that got the 3 of us tickled. lol  It's been a week since we've been able to laugh at anything and it felt good.  They came in to begin to get him up and he was able to sit on the side of the bed for a minute.  That was all he was able to do today, but it was still encouraging.  We'll try again tomorrow, and I know Dan, and he will push it beyond that.  He has good circulation in his foot which is so encouraging when you consider the damage that's been done to his leg.  We are very excited about it showing good blood supply and circulation moving through all of it.  His chest is causing the most discomfort off all, even above the leg.  Originally, we were told broken ribs on just the left side, but found out yesterday that they are all broken on right as well, it's just the left was so much worse that it required the plates being put in.  So as you can imagine, every breath hurts.  He is doing good, though, and I'm so proud of how he's handling it all.  He's cracked a joke with the nurse a time or two and that's the Dan we know!  Hoping to move out of ICU in the next couple days as long as we keep seeing improvment.  Thank you to all who care about how he's doing.  I continue to share it with him when he wakes and it's encouraging to him.  I'll keep you posted ~

  3. Jenni...you have no idea just how much this blog is helping us all here at home. There have been so many questions and constant concerns and of course prayers and prayer requests. This will certainly help us (especially those of us who have kids) explain and understand Dan's progress. I know Dan knows the kids are SO very worried....but I don't think he has any idea just how much he has impacted the lives of ALL of us in this community. Tell this to Dan and see if you can get a little smile...God had to updrade to a 6000G network, just to handle the prayers for him. Both of you be assured those prayers will not stop. 10. Jenni, went by the house today to drop some things off for the kids....stopped by the police department to ask directions to your house and they proceeded to tell me how revered Dan is in the community and how everyone was keeping him in their thoughts and prayers. Kids were all good, healthy, doing well. Will stop by again on Friday. Love you all.....Aunt Lana

Our faith always holds. I look forward to checking the blog each day to hear what the Big Guy is up to that day. I miss the emails and motivational videos. 15. So encouraging to hear of Dan's progress. Tell Dan that Cooper is missing seeing 'the Big Guy' at school and is in need of his help. Cooper has discovered the paw prints painted in the parking lot of Pate that lead up the sidewalk and up into the building. Cooper is in search of the puppy (which he thinks is in Pate somewhere) and knows 'the Big Guy' will be able to help him find it. (That should make Dan chuckle).
So glad to hear he is improving. He is missed dearly and we await his return. Love and prayers from the Blackburns (Jason, Theresa, Cooper & Parker)

  16. I'm so glad you're keeping up with the blog- I love hearing how God is working in the recovery/healing process- isn't He good?!

We pray nightly with Paelyn for Dan- she normally ends with an "Amen!" Although, it sounds more like "Ammmaaaa"

  18. Jenni tell Dan that Darren and I added him to the prayer list at our church. Your entire family is in our thoughts and prayers. Albert AKA "Hunter" ask about him everyday, then he smiles and ask, do you think he is always going to call me Albert??? Dan sure stole a piece of that boys heart this summer....

  20. Jenni,
I am coming to Columbia Friday afternoon/evening with Katie for a 4-H event and would be able to bring anything you need. There would also be some room in the car for family members if you would like. We would be returning to Aurora on Saturday afternoon. If you need anything, let me know.
